How the Karaka Vintage Day came to be...
The Karaka Historical Society Inc. was formed in 1997 with the objective of preserving the history of the area. This small group of volunteers from the wider Karaka community have taken the Karaka Museum from humble beginnings under the stage of the War Memorial Hall, to the magnificent purpose built Museum now located alongside the Hall on Blackbridge Rd.
The Karaka Historical Society in consultation with the Vintage Engine Restorers Association (VERA) held the first Karaka Vintage Day in September 2000. The event was so successful it became the biennial event it is today.
The Karaka Vintage Day has been the principal fundraiser toward the building of the new Karaka Museum. As the Museum is located on the edge of the Karaka Sports Park it seemed logical to ensure the continuation of this event by members within this group.
This brings us to the 2018 Karaka Vintage Day run by members of the Karaka Sports Park supported by the Karaka Historical Society, VERA and the Franklin Vintage Machinery Club. We look forward to another wonderful day and hope to see you there including a visit to the Karaka Museum.
A Community Day Out
From rides in vintage and classic cars, to pony rides. From catapults and tractor pulls, to bouncy castles and live music. This community event is now a wonderful fixture on the local calendar enjoyed by all.
